2014 in pictures

It has been an intense year. From fighting in Donetsk, to a mining accident in Turkey, to flooding in Norway and to destruction in Gaza.And a lot of nice things, as well.Here are some of the pictures from 2014.

The long nights in Gaza

During the war in Gaza this summer, 17.000 houses were destroyed. Twice as many as in the previous war. Now, the families have moved back to their homes - trying to find back to normality in a neighborhood in ruins. We spent the night with three families trying to understand how it is to live in the ruins. Together with journalist Per Christian Selmer Andersen we meet Jamal who waits in vain on the roof of his bombed house for help organizations to reach him. The father Hani who have learned to fix bullet holes, but not to talk with his children about the war. And about 18 years old Imen who have lost all her books - and every night goes to the window to see over to the Israelis she hates.
